RoHS
The Restriction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS) is new a directive legislation introduced by the European Union and will be enforced as from July 1, 2006. The RoHS directive will effectively ban the use of certain substances in new electrical and electronic equipment products put onto the market. The banned substances are lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (CRVI) along with polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) .... the final two substances are generally found in flame retardant materials.

REACH / SVHC
REACH is a European Union regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals. REACH came into force by on 1st June 2007 and is aimed at businesses which manufacture, import, distribute, sell or use chemical substances, preparations or articles into the EU.
REACH covers most chemical substances manufactured in, or imported into the European Union (EU), in quantities of one tonne or more per calendar year.
