RFX Limited, a subsidiary of TFC, has developed a low magnetic signature OCXO for use in mine detection and other military defence and survelence applications. The oscillator exhibits a magnetic signature of less than 5 gamma tesla making it the world leader for this design.

Development of this oscillator required intimate cooperation with USA defence contractors at the University of Texas; one of only two laboratories worldwide capable of measuring such low magnetic signatures. The product also required the design of a new quartz resonator housed in glass and employing materials such as copper and hastelloy to reduce the magnetic properties. This oven controlled crystal oscillator eventually found favour in a unique defence related underwater mine mapping system.

RFX Ltd draws on a broad range of expertise and r.f. capability proving custom designs for non-standard niche markets such as telecoms, measurement, surveillance and defence. A specific design researched and manufactured by RFX produced a low-magnetic OCXO with a magnetic signature of less than five gamma tesla. 

RFX commit a significant overhead to continuous R&D to further improve their existing product range and develop new products for specific customer applications combining high levels of precision and reliability with specific customer parameters.
